This document explains how to recover H-Sphere user and system data you have backed up according to the manual on backing up H-Sphere.

H-Sphere backup location is set in the /hsphere/shared/backup/hs_bck.cfg config file. The default location is /var/backup.

hs_bck stores the system data backup (with user content if configured in hs_bck.cfg) in the following files in the BCK_DIR directory:

  • <ARCHIVE>.tgz - the latest backup; <ARCHIVE> is the name of the backup file set in hs_bck.cfg. This is the default name:
    BACKUP hs_bck
    Older backup files are named <ARCHIVE>.1.tgz, <ARCHIVE>.2.tgz, ...
  • hsphere.sql - the H-Sphere system database backup;
  • counter.sql, poll.sql, guestbook.sql - SiteStudio system databases are also backed up if SiteStudio is set up with H-Sphere.

To restore data from the backup, check with the backup and recovery list for the directories that need to be recovered for this server. Restore these directories from <ARCHIVE>.tgz into the appropriate locations on the server.
