H-Sphere VPS is installed on a dedicated box not to intefere with
H-Sphere services. The core of H-Sphere VPS includes:
- FreeVPS related sofware:
- FreeVPS kernel: a standard Linux kernel patched to support VPS;
- FreeVPS tools: scripts to manage virtual servers and their host server.
- OpenVZ related software (since HS VPS 2.x, HS 3.1 Beta 1 +).
Host Operating Systems
Make sure to install one of the following OSs to a dedicated physical box:
FreeVPS based host:
- (HS VPS before 2.0-0) Red Hat Linux release 7.3
- Trustix Secure Linux 2.2
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 3, CentOS 3.x, and White Box Enterprise Linux release 3
- (HS VPS 1.4-4+ and H-Sphere 2.5 RC 2+) Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 4, CentOS 4.x, and White Box Enterprise Linux release 4
OpenVZ based host:
(HS VPS 2.0-0+ and H-Sphere 3.1 Beta 1 +)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 4, CentOS 4.x, and White Box Enterprise Linux release 4
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5, CentOS 5.x, and White Box Enterprise Linux release 5
We do not support H-Sphere VPS on other operating systems.
VPS Operating Systems
In H-Sphere VPS 1.4-x and up, there is a possibiliy to choose a preferred OS of future virtual servers different
from that of the host, according to the compatibility table:
